The 1967 Chevy Impalacould be classed as Dean Winchester's baby. In many ways, Dean and the Chevy have the same relationship as a new born to his mother or father. Doting over it, never allowing it to fall into the wrong hands or to fall into disrepair the Impala represents a consistency and stability that the Winchester brothers, particularly Dean, never had with their parents due to tragedy.
It is also their means of transportation from state to state. The fact that they often take long, arduous road trips is stumbled upon in Season 1, when Dean and Sam are forced to take an airplane in order to destroy a demon who is killing people through forcing the pilot to crash. Dean, who claims to have no fears whatsoever is shown to be terrified of flying, hence why they travel in car everywhere. As well as being able to drive from hunting job to next hunting job, the trunk of the car provides a space to set up a weapons storage unit. The brothers are able to store all their vital and varied weaponry there, from stakes to shotguns, and it is protected by demons with an exorcism marking drawn under the metal.
The body style of the new 1967 Impala was redesigned to give this car a longer look. This new longer looks still remained on the same standard wheelbase. Both the Impala and the Impala Super Sport now featured great "fastback" styling of the rear roof lines and back glass. The rear quarter panels took on a rounder fuller look as well. This look has become known as the "Coke bottle" look. The grill of the '67 Impala was redesigned into a lattice-work pattern. The most recognizable feature for 1967 has to be that of the hood of an Impala Super Sport powered by a 427 engine! One look at that hood says buckle-up and hold on!
